This morning’s UIBC Monthly Breakfast included great conversation and strategic insights for local, small businesses. The King’s English co-owner Calvin Crosby moderated the discussion about how to encourage Utahns to shop local and buy local during Q3 and Q4. Insights from Calvin include:
- The idea that “as local business owners, we’re stronger together” is more salient than ever before.
- We need to encourage Utahns to think twice before choosing to buy from national retailers and big chains. “Before you click on a link online, ask yourself, ‘is there someone in my community I can go to instead?'”
- Since more cents out of every dollar that is spent at a locally-owned business is kept in the local community, the motto should be “find it here, buy it here, keep it here!”

UIBC’s next monthly breakfast will be on September 28th at 8am at Hub & Spoke Diner.
